Gite du Manoir du Mesnil

Nestled in the heart of the bocage and green farmland; the Manoir du Mesnil de Bas is also 4 kilometres from the magnificent sandy beaches north of Granville. This location between land and sea allows the inhabitants of the Manoir to enjoy a multitude of outdoor activities ranging from excursions at sea (Chausey Islands) or on land (hiking or cycling), to sailing, horse riding or golf, as well as the discovery of a unique heritage in the countryside and a very dynamic cultural life all year round.

Granville and its port, comparable in the beauty of its site to that of Saint-Malo, 15 minutes by car from the Manor House.

It is one of the largest active fishing ports in the region. You will find a density of shops, year-round activity and magnificent views of the old town which overlooks the port (tower of the ramparts).

Magical excursions to nearby (Chausey Islands) from Granville.

Situated in the commune of Granville about 10 km from the coast, the Chausey Islands attract fishermen and walkers all year round. Composed of several hundred islets made of the granite used to build the Mont Saint Michel and a large green island where a few buildings nestle around the church bell tower and an old fort, the Chausey islands take you far away into a land of blue lagoons and icy waters where the sea retreats and discovers a landscape of dunes and rocks over several kilometres. Book a speedboat in Granville.

Not far from the Manor House, the bay of Mont Saint-Michel, an exceptional site to be seen and seen again in all weathers and all seasons.

On foot, on horseback, from the rocks of the Vauban hut or from the old medieval port of Genest, it can be contemplated from dawn to sunset and is situated not far from the Manoir du Mesnil de Bas.

The harbours of the Channel, splendid landscapes created by the impressive high tides, a few kilometres from the Manoir.

In the Channel, the river estuaries form, under the influence of the tides, vast areas regularly invaded by the sea, made up of sand and salt-bleached grassland. A few kilometres from the Manor House, the Vanlée river which runs through the property, forms the “salines”, a traditional place for the inhabitants of Bréhal to walk but also a wonderful beach for bathing in all seasons. Le Havre de Régneville, a few kilometres further north, shelters a protected medieval village in a beautiful natural site.

Sailing, horse riding and golf, the emblematic sports of the English Channel.

If the Channel is unquestionably a country of “sailors”, the lands around the Manoir du Mesnil de Bas are characterised by breeding (the Haras de Saint-Lô stud farm), equestrian sports, racecourses (at Bréhal and Granville) but also golf courses. Indeed, there is no lack of golf courses in the region (Granville, Coutances…). The closest one being that of Bréhal, situated in the dunes along the sea, the first municipal golf course in Europe (1962) founded by Guillaume de Maneville, grandfather of the current owner of the place. The Granville golf course is less than 10km from the Manoir.

A rich and unique heritage in the heart of the countryside, to be visited in complete tranquillity.

The Normandy countryside abounds with a rich and unique heritage. On the one hand, you can discover private manor houses that can be seen at the end of an alley or manor houses that you visit. All have retained their original character. On the other hand, there are gigantic abbeys whose bays rise to the sky, lost in the depths of the countryside and which bear witness to the fervour of communities that have disappeared. A cultural heritage that you will be able to discover in complete tranquillity.

A varied cultural offer which gives rhythm to the life of the inhabitants around Granville all year round (music festivals, unique events…).

Music festivals (Jazz sous les pommiers, Jazz en Baie or the Heures musicales de granville de l’Abbaye de Lessay among others), and street arts (Les Sorties de Bain), unique events such as the Night of the Welders, the famous Granville Carnival now classified by UNESCO and a very varied theatre programme (notably at the Granville Archipelago Theatre or the Coutances Theatre).
